HOW TO GET TO MONTENEGRO

1) LAND TRANSPORT

Montenegro borders 4 countries. Road border crossing with Serbia (Rance, Cemerno, Dobrakovo, Kula, Drazenovac, Vuce), with Albania (Bozaj, Sukobin, Grncar), with BiH (Sitnica, Ilino brdo, Vracenovici, Krstac, Nudo, Scepan Polje, Metaljka, Sula), with Croatia (Debeli brijeg, Kobila). 2) AIR TRAFFIC

In addition to land, Montenegro can also be reached by plane. The national airline is Air Montenegro  (www.airmontenegro.com). Airports in Montenegro are located in Tivat and Podgorica (www.montenegroairports.com). Air traffic on regular lines is also maintained by the companies AirSerbia, Adria, Austrian. During the summer season, numerous charter flights are introduced, and several foreign airlines operate, the number of which is increasing every year. 3) MARITIME TRAFFIC

VISA REGIME

Citizens of the Republic of Serbia can enter and stay in Montenegro under the same conditions as citizens of Montenegro (with an identity card). Citizens of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Croatia can enter Montenegro and stay there for up to 90 days. They can travel in Montenegro with valid travel documents.

Citizens of Austria, Belgium, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland can enter and stay in Montenegro for up to 90 days. They can travel with valid travel documents and an issued tourist pass.

For purposes of tourist visits lasting up to 30 days (individual or group arrangements), citizens of Albania, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine can enter and stay in Montenegro based on valid travel documents without a visa and with a tourist pass. The tourist pass is issued by the administrative body responsible for controlling the crossing of the state border, without compensation. The tourist pass is valid for 30 days.

Citizens of other countries not mentioned here must have a valid visa to enter Montenegro.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Montenegro does not require documents such as a green card, an international driver's license and a license to drive someone else's car abroad. If the owner of the vehicle is not in it, the person driving the vehicle should have an authorization certified by the court or in the municipality, but a license to drive the vehicle abroad issued by the AMS of Serbia, valid for one year, is also accepted.

To enter the Republic of Montenegro, citizens of the Republic of Serbia need:

  • For adults and older minors over the age of 16 - passport or valid ID card
  • For younger minors up to 16 years old – passport
  • In order to cross the state border, a minor, a citizen of the Republic of Serbia up to the age of 16, when traveling alone or accompanied by another person who is not his parent or legal representative, must have the certified consent of both parents, if they jointly exercise parental rights, or a legal representative.

According to the Law of Montenegro on Foreigners, a foreign travel document that was issued within the last ten years and whose validity will not expire at least three months (90 days) after the planned date of departure from the territory of Montenegro is considered a valid travel document.

According to the Law of Montenegro on Food Safety, the following quantities of food are allowed per vehicle: a total of 1 kg of dried fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, cheese, coffee, tea, spices, 1 liter of alcoholic beverage, 2 liters of juice and 5 liters of bottled water, in the original packaging.

Control of residence registration at border crossings when leaving Montenegro

Control of residence registration is carried out at all border crossings, which means that it includes passengers traveling by all types of transport (by plane, car, train, ship...).

Foreigners who stay in Montenegro for more than 24 hours are obliged to, upon arrival in Montenegro, report their stay to the police, and if they are tourists, then the accommodation providers, where the tourists stay, are obliged to report them. The residence tax is a lump sum paid by a guest who uses accommodation services in an accommodation facility where tourism or catering activities are carried out.
